Loop wrapping beads with jump rings

Loop wire wrapped bead with jump rings I like using leather cord and sterling silver to assemble my polymer clay necklaces. So I want to quickly show you how to make loop wrap bead attached to a jump ring.  You’ll need wire cutters, round nose pliers, flat nose pliers, some beads, sterling silver (or any other) wire and some jump rings. (Made or bought.)

Method:

Step 1- 4: Create loop and slip on jump ring

Cut your sterling wire. The length depends on the size of the bead, but as a rule of thumb it is better to cut it longer than you think it would need to be. I cut this piece at around 10cm (3.9 inches).

Use your round nose pliers to bend the wire 90 degrees [step 1 on the image]. Then put your round nose pliers at the base of the bend and use your fingers and the pliers to wrap the wire around the base of the round-nosed pliers [step 2 on the image]. Take some pliers and widen the gap at the bottom of the loop to leave enough space to slip on the jump ring. Step 3 on the image.

Use your pliers to push the wire close to each other. Hold the loop in your flat nose pliers and bend the wire around the base of the loop. Do this a few times.  Cut the wire with the flat side of your cutters for an even edge [step 4 on the image]. You can file the edges if it is rough.

Complete the loop wrap

Right. So the first part of the wrap is complete. Now slip the bead onto the wire and use your pliers to make a 90 degree bend as close as you can to the bead [step 5 in the image].  Wrap the wire close to the base of your round-nosed pliers to form the loop, be careful not to scratch your bead while you do this [see step 6 in the image].

Pry the loop open a bit to make it wide enough to slip on the jump ring [step 7 on the image]. Hold the loop in your pliers and wrap the end of the wire around the base of the loop a few times until the bead fits tightly. Cut the excess wire off with the flat edge of your cutters. If the end of the wire stands out a bit, use your flat-nosed pliers to carefully press the edge in.

That’s it, step 8 on the image shows how it looks when you're done. Now you can knot some leather cord, use calottes or loop wrap another bead onto this one.
