It is not immediately obvious how important slicing is when making polymer jewellery. But anyone who's done an intricate cane will know slicing and cutting clay the right way makes a difference to the time spent and the finished product.

Use a stiff tissue blade

When I bought my first tissue blade I got a flexible one. Which works really well under certain circumstances, but for general use a stiff blade works better. You can also use it to ensure that you have straight edges. A stiff tissue blade is important when you slice canes.
