This tutorial forms part of the complex cane or millifiori technique series. One of the common ways to use a complex cane is by adding slices from the millifiori cane onto another cane. This tutorial shows how to do it.

Pop your millifiori canes in the freezer.
Condition the red and white clay. Roll a log out of the white clay and a sheet out of the red. Make a bull’s eye cane. Cut slices from the cane. Image 1.
Place the slices around the bull’s eye cane. Image 2.
Roll the log between two glass sheets until the slices are smoothed into the cane. Image 3.
Image 4 shows a side view of the cane. You can the slices from the complex cane looks when it’s been cut through.
Slice the log into even pieces, make holes and bake according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Buff or varnish as you see fit.
